umbrellas on the riverwalk

I thought the 5-views-of-the-same-subject technique would be a good way to introduce my new 50mm 1.4 lens.

San Antonio Riverwalk at 8pm with no flash...

Bird's-eye view...

It's 8:30pm and still no flash!

hummingbird don't fly away, fly away

In case this makes you want to break out singing a little Seals and Crofts, click here and start at around 1:01, if not at the beginning. Great song!

field trip to the zoo

Last Saturday I went on the photography class field trip to the zoo. Now it had been gorgeous all week, but of course it rained that morning. So that meant we had to spend over half our time in the reptile house which gives me the creeps.

Since I'm not a snake fan, I chose to spend time with the albino alligator whose body (except the head) was in the water and whose lovely eyes were looking two different directions.

Then we moved to the fish exhibit and I got mostly blurry pictures, except these two of Nemo and the blue fish.

It cleared up enough for us to go see the flamingos. I'm not sure if they are asleep or picking bugs from their armpits.

I thought the composition was pretty good on this next one.

I'll post more interesting animals next time.
